  • Overview

    This is a Sr Systems Engineer position supporting Time Shift as a Service and PPV Event TV streaming MBR/ABR services. The streaming engineer will be responsible for architectural input and design, optimization, and the maturation of VU streaming content services.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities:

    1. Build, maintain, monitor, and improve streaming applications and services
    2. Work in conjunction with development, DevOps, engineers, and product owners to ensure technical work, project timelines, and resource requirements are properly scoped.
    3. Interface with Infrastructure build out, APIs, databases, and other cloud-based and remote systems including on site customer deployments.
    4. Work with DEV,QA, and Product team to develop test plans and monitor issues, and provide 24/7 second-level support if needed.
    5.  Configure and Maintain Nagios infrastructure in support of these services. 

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    • Minimum 5  + Years' experience developing robust content pipelines for streaming media services.
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or 4 years comparable engineering experience
    • 3+ years recreating and maintaining large scale real time/live video encoding, decoding, and streaming software systems.
    • Strong technical skillsets with various video streaming protocols including HLS streaming, ABR/MBR, MPEG-Dash, RTP/RTSP, and Smooth Streaming.
    • MPEG standards: MPEG2-TS, H.264 and Video/Audio formats such as MP4, AC3, and AAC
    • Strong knowledge of lower layer technologies, IP Routing, switching, and network engineering.
    • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills, and the ability to work with both local and distributed development teams.

     

     

    You might also have -

    • Experience utilizing cloud services, and basic cloud concepts such as scaling and distributed deployment.
    • Fluency in C/C++ and common server side scripting languages (Ruby, Python, Perl,etc)
    • Knowledge of Linux/Unix scripting and running Docker/Kubernetes containers.
