Overview

The Director - Human Resources will deploy people strategy and direction in partnership with business leaders and in compliance with corporate HR initiative/policies creating a culture of excellence.  Assist and support business leaders in optimizing people, strategy, structure, process, and culture, and to facilitate the liaison/delivery of HR services as appropriate.  This job is both strategic and tactical in with planning, program management and consultative services; and serves as the company talent steward, culture guardian and employee spokesperson.  The day to day focuses on issues and performs tasks related to employment, payroll, benefits, compensation, training, employee relations, performance, and organizational design.

Responsibilities

  • In partnership with business leaders, identify human resources-related needs and people strategies to meet company and business objective/goals including staffing and retention, employee development, organizational development, compensation and benefits administration, performance management and offboarding.
  • Design and develop HR-based solutions through tools, systems, reports, data, and HR programs to help business leader manage and develop their departments and employees.
  • Assist managers in resolving personnel problems adhering to company and HR confidential standards.
  • Set staffing and retention plans for assigned clients
  • Manage the onboarding and off-boarding of employees.
  • Coordinate training programs - company wide and business unit specific - to develop people and drive performance.
  • Handle disciplinary actions, evaluate performance, provide training and development opportunities, and coach and counsel staff. 
  • Serve as first line of service for employees and respond rapidly to inquiries, issues, and concerns.
  • Interface with benefit providers and other vendors assisting employee needs.  
  • Under the guidance of executive management, develop, recommend, and implement specific HR and workplace policies.
  • Conduct employee meetings for HR programs and services, including benefits enrollments, performance management, timekeeping, and wellness.
  • Work with other support teams such as office services, marketing, finance, legal and information technology teams designing and supporting processes that deliver an exceptional employee experience.
  • Serve as backup for HRIS and payroll function.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business or equivalent education/work experience
  • 5-7 years of progressive HR business partner experience, including working with senior leadership
  • Strong project and program management skills
  • Ability to public speak and present at employee meetings and senior leadership strategy sessions
  • Heavy meeting facilitation, listening, problem solving mediation skills
  • Ability to influence with power
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Current knowledge of US employment/labor laws and other state/local regulatory compliance statues, especially wage and hour and leaves of absence
  • Unconditional ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong process invention, improvement, and documentation skills
  • Practical knowledge and deployment of performance management, succession planning, compensation analysis, performance improvement, training design, management/leadership development and employee relations
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Knowledge and oversight of payroll function a plus
  • Experience in training program design
  • Ability to drive between work locations as needed
